  17. '50s, the sometime Yankee, Giant and Brooklyn Dodger boasted one
  18. of the deadliest arsenals in baseball: an intimidating glower, a
  19. perfectly sculpted curve ball, and a fast ball that seemed to
  20. slice within a whisker's breadth of his embattled batters,
  21. earning Sal the nickname "the Barber."
